Welcome to Nettle Creek Bees!
We’re Mike and Kat, and we’re so glad you’re here!
Together, we’ve called Kendall and Grundy Counties in Illinois home for about 25 years, and we’re excited to finally share a dream that has been growing in our hearts for many years.
We’ve always dreamed of owning a small farm. We were fortunate to find a special little property in Morris with a 100-year-old farmhouse and a 115-year-old barn, both of which we’re lovingly restoring one step at a time.
Our journey began with a simple goal: to support our honeybees and care for the land. Along the way, we realized we wanted to share the things we love with others. That’s how Nettle Creek Bees was born.
Today, we’re proud to offer local honey, handcrafted beeswax products, and seasonal organic fruits, berries, and vegetables. All produced and grown with care, respect for nature, and a commitment to quality.
This page is where we’ll share our successes, our challenges, and the everyday moments of farm life. We hope you’ll enjoy following along as much as we enjoy living it.

From our hives to your home.
Our Bees
Our hives are home to Saskatraz honey bees. It is a breed known for being gentle, hardworking, and excellent honey producers.
We chose them because they are well-suited for our Illinois climate and are selectively bred for strong overwintering ability and improved resilience against common bee pests and diseases.
Every colony is carefully inspected and cared for throughout the season. Healthy bees are the foundation of everything we do.
